Yoga for Anxiety, with Elisabeth Schramm

In this workshop we explore the experience of anxiety through yoga and mindfulness practices. The experience of anxiety is present in every living creature, and we humans are no different. Anxiety manifests with physical sensations that are unpleasant, so much so that we can become fearful of fear. The mind gets involved by telling stories about how awful this experience is, we may dwell in stories from the past and worry about the future. We instinctively try to self-regulate when we experience something unpleasant in the body/mind, and so you may have turned to strategies that help in the moment, but have negative side effects.

Through yoga and mindfulness we have the opportunity to develop a new relationship with anxiety. To be able to notice the physical and mental experience, to be curious about it, with an attitude of radical acceptance. We will explore practices that soothe the central nervous system and begin to practice this “other” possibility. Mindfulness practices bring the attention into the present moment and gently shift us away from rumination and worry. The body and mind have the capacity to relax and experience calm, and this becomes possible through time, attention and practice.

This class is appropriate for those new to yoga, as well as those with experience – all are welcome!

Mom Yoga, with Lisa Nevar-Landsmann

A great class to get you out and about with your pre-crawling little one! Enjoy taking the time to stretch and release the tension from your new mom body. Particular attention is given to each mom’s healing and energy, to ensure your experience is positive and useful for your day-to-day. Babies will join us for some of the poses.

Baby Yoga, with Lisa Nevar-Landsmann

Thursdays. January 11 – February 15; February 22 – March 29. 9:30-10:30am

For Newborns to Almost Crawlers. These classes include dozens of developmentally enriching yoga poses designed specifically for your baby. You will learn calming, nurturing ways to enhance bonding, aid baby’s digestion and improve sleep patterns. Babies will enjoy yoga while on their backs, tummies or held in loving arms.

For parents, this class is a special opportunity to connect with other moms, get support and learn about your babies’ emerging personalities. The yoga we do in this class is for baby, but you will also have time for some breathing and relaxation practices.

Qigong Yoga and Meditation, with Leslie MacMillan

Thursdays. January 11 – February 15; February 21 – March 29. 8:30-9:45am

This class is a complementary blend of Qigong (Qi = life energy; Gong = work) and Yoga. Yoga asanas, which help to strengthen, stretch and realign the body are combined with flowing Qigong movements and massage, which help to generate and move energy throughout the body. Breath work and meditation are woven into each class to create a strong foundation for this practice.

Body, Breath & Pen, with Melinda Reidl

Saturdays. January 13 – March 3. 12:00-2:00pm

Come home to your body, write from your heart, be nourished in community. Your body has stories it wants to tell. Your heart has insights it wants to express. Your mind has rumination it wants to lay on the page.

Let’s give all of these parts space to move and grow, shift and heal. We’ll build a container together in which to do this. Join your facilitator and guide, Melinda, with a group of curious souls to map this experience together.

Hips & Core: Strengthening techniques for alignment, stability, mobility, with Gina Giammarco

This area of the body is responsible for so much – supporting the entire torso, as well as absorbing and transmitting forces through the legs. It’s a significant amount of engineering. Add to this, a population that is doing more sitting than ever before and how and why this compromises hip alignment, strength and function.

In this workshop, we will expand our understanding of the design, why stretching the area might be undermining our alignment and ways to strengthen the area to improve the support our bodies deserve.

Kids Yoga After School, with Lisa Cipparone

For ages 4-11 years. Classes incorporate age appropriate kids yoga postures, brain gym activities, breathing exercises, cooperative yoga games, creative movement, meditation, relaxation, and simple visualization exercise in a fun, supportive and friendly environment. Your child will learn playful relaxation techniques and calming strategies. They will gain improved balance, coordination, strength, cooperative skills and flexibility.

Each class includes a craft and healthy gluten- and nut-free snack.

Yoga for Childbirth, with Lisa GillOrme

This workshop will provide a holistic approach to breathing, toning, partner-assisted yoga postures, supportive massage and meditation practices to help with labour.

Birth partners will learn valuable tools to assist through pregnancy and childbirth. Most importantly, it will be a fun and loving time to bond with each other and your baby and prepare for the birth experience.

Recommended for second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
